We had the chance to speak to Len Cotsovolos relating to the different elements of this remarkable holiday retreat. He shares his exclusive insight into the design of the venture, his favorite attributes of the home, and the care taken to design and style this present day masterpiece.  Read on to discover out what the man himself had to say…

Can you give us an idea of the floor strategy used for the trip residence and the different amounts on which the public and private spaces are housed?

The house is on 3 ranges, and constructed on a sloping mountainside surrounded by majestic tall pine trees. You enter the residence from the top floor, in excess of the tree canopies to keep the views uncompromised, where you will locate the Main residing spaces for the House owner. On this floor there is an Entry Foyer, Powder Space, Kitchen, Butler’s Pantry, and Dining space that opens up to a large exterior covered patio deck (that simply accommodates 50+ visitors), and a super-sized Residing Room. The Master Bedroom with its personal fireplace, the Master Bathroom with a shower for 6 men and women, a huge Home Workplace, Mudroom and Laundry Space are also located on this floor.

Moving onto the architect’s consider on the 2nd and third levels…

The second floor (downstairs) is where you will uncover the Guest Quarters it has a huge Guest Sanctuary (living room), which contains custom furnishings to accommodate twenty visitors, a massive linear fireplace, a Game Room with billiard table, and entry to an outside Jacuzzi and get together deck. There are 3 massive Guestrooms on this floor and each has its own private bathroom, a Bunk Space with queen-sized bunk beds for 12 visitors, and a extremely huge shared bathroom.

The lowest floor is the Ski Space, the place there are lockers, a powder room, a wall of ski-boot warmers, and a small enclosed ski fix room tucked in the corner, in which you can hone and wax your skis close to the Guest Laundry Space. From this decrease level you can ski straight onto the slopes.

From your very own standpoint, what do you think is the one distinct attribute of the house that is an absolute showstopper?

The present-stopper for me would be the 1-of-a-type oversized customized lighting fixtures all through, which act like the jewelry in the spaces. They are delicately thorough, dangling, sparkling and very shiny to contrast towards all of the tough rustic features of the property. My group and I comprehensive and designed the oversized light fixtures to stability the proportions of the open floor ideas, and bring a feminine touch to the clean tough lines and masculine monochromatic interiors.

And his Favored lighting set up between them all is…

My favourite piece is the custom 14′ extended chandelier in excess of the dining table, which I designed and had fabricated exclusively for this task. It was hand-cast to resemble a large tree branch with clusters of quartz crystals and small LED lights. The crystals make the fixture search like it was left out in the snow, and is as if the grand pine trees living outside the windows had begun to develop indoors. The fixture was made to visually bring the outdoors into the interior, and can be witnessed for miles away on the snowy mountaintop.

What about the insulation system of the property? Contemplating the in depth use of glass windows and the altitude, how difficult was it to create a warm and cozy space even though visually inviting the outdoors inside?

To insulate the property, we 1st located the residence to face South on the web site, specified a 3-pane glass window method to shield against the harsh components, set up below-floor radiant heating techniques during the complete home, extra wood floors in most rooms to preserve the floors warm to bare feet, filled the rooms with plush wool shag carpets, hefty woven Chenille materials, sumptuous animal furs, and employed warm colour tones to preserve the occupants feeling warm and cozy no matter what the temperatures are outdoors.
