Global substantial-finish furnishings company Brunner has opened its new London headquarters to the public. Made by McDowell+Benedetti, the amazing furniture showroom and offices occupy a big 3-storey Victorian warehouse area on Rosebery Avenue, close to Exmouth Market place in Clerkenwell. The new property for Brunner United kingdom allows the organization to increase its London base from its former cramped premises close to Previous Street, into a light and spacious gallery showroom in the heart of London’s design quarter.
Set in an unusually extended and narrow industrial warehouse creating on Rosebery Avenue, the new showroom is part of Brunner’s longterm strategy to increase its United kingdom operations. McDowell+Benedetti’s response to Brunner’s short was to strip back the building’s interior to reveal authentic crucial attributes of the building’s industrial heritage, like steel beams and sandblasted brickwork. A calm palette of resources and colours was then introduced, such as a monolithic pale grey resin to all 3 floors, forming a theatrical and unified backdrop for the furnishings displays. Voids were opened up and a potent linear floating staircase extra to connect the 3 floors. [Pictures and data provided by means of e-mail by Brunner]
