Melkbos by SAOTA:
“This family members home, designed by SAOTA – Stefan Antoni Olmesdahl Truen Architects is positioned about 30km (19mi) from Cape Town along the idyllic but also very harsh West Coast.
The form and siting of the residence is strongly orientated about views. On coming into the house, the focus turns fully to the sea dealing with side of the property, which opens up and embraces the landscape of the West Coast.
The street dealing with display wall which mirrors the roughness of the landscape, is separated from the refined and extremely detailed living spaces by a skylight which runs the total length of the house. From this screening element, the residence is organized in a linear method with all rooms dealing with magnificent sea views. The interior is minimalistic and totally practical. Floor to ceiling cavity sliding glazing permit the living areas to open up to the landscape.
Light and spacious indoor / outside residing locations make this home ideal for those who wish to escape the City existence. The home has practically taken on the character of its surroundings and enables one particular to engage with the exquisitely stunning rough and climate-beaten Coast.”
