Belgian architectural firm dmvA has created the Home LS.
Completed in 2011, this modern residence in Wemmel, Belgium, is the consequence of a full redesign of an previous residence.
Home LS by dmvA:
“The municipality of Wemmel, located on the outskirts of Brussels, is effectively known for its green areas with their monumental villas of the upper class. Soon after a search of numerous many years, the principal saw a home located in one particular of people quarters. It was not his dream home but simply because of its marvelous spot and the south orientated garden, he decided to acquire it.
dmvA was commissioned to turn the rather classical residence into a modern edifice. No sooner explained than carried out, but the reality that also the neighbors had to approve the design to get a developing license, as prescribed in the creating laws, had a fantastic effect on the layout. So no total ‘metamorphosis’ of the current home, just modest interventions. The façades of the present home had been painted white. The interior was furnished in black and white. The swimming pool was renovated and framed by an illuminating glazed ‘retaining wall. Lastly, 2 sculptural white volumes have been added connecting inside and outdoors, linking house, pool and backyard.”
