’5 minutes only’ with Oona Bannon – Creative Director of Pinch


‘5 Minutes Only’ is a series of fast fire rounds with influencers and leaders in the discipline of art and design. Today we welcome Oona Bannon Creative Director of the award winning company Pinch. Their timeless collections feature understated contemporary furniture, inspired by mid century fashion and traditional woodwork methods.

Where did you both meet?

At Russell’s initial organization, a branding agency referred to as the Nest, he was the imaginative director and I was a lowly account manager. Meeting at perform has meant we have usually recognized how to work alongside 1 yet another. So, building a business among us seemed very organic.

Where did you review?

This was the second time we have been nominated for Greatest Brand,and yes it feels great.  When you operate for oneself there is always the threat that you might go off on a crazy self indulgent jaunt – so it’s most reassuring to know that other folks fee what you do.

Where have you placed your award?

On the shelf over my desk with a handful of neighbours and my stock of french tinned sardines.

What has occurred considering that?

British Style is centre stage at the moment, it feels really interesting and energetic.  Winning the award has provided us a good deal of international publicity and the timing is extremely correct for our company as we have been doing work hard in a quiet way for the previous 8 many years so its excellent to be widening our worldwide profile now we are much more established.

What are you operating on now?

This is a massive New Product Development 12 months for us. We recently launched our Lana dressing table and Derome light and in the next number of months we’ll be launching a modular sofa, shelving, a sideboard, a bedside table and a series of float stools.

You collaborated with the Conran Shop and the US brand Crate and Barrel, would like to increase further with this?

I’d truly like to collaborate with a vogue company.

In which do you dwell?

In my beloved Brixton.

How would you describe your house?

A really exhausted and crammed Victorian residence that will shortly undergo a transformation. Hopefully.

What is your favourite designer merchandise you purchased for your house?

Most of our furniture is our personal, prototype fashion, but I have just purchased some Gem Wall Lights by Tom Dixon for our stone barn in the Charante Maritime.

Do you acquire anything at all?

My kid’s drawings.

Exactly where do you shop for garments?

I really like a great deal of YMC pieces. On the web I usually uncover anything at Couverture and the Garbstore but I just received a wonderful 80′s tea skirt at Glasgow’s Retro City Vintage retailer, You pay out by bodyweight, so it is super cheap.

What is your favourite music?

I’ve manufactured a washing up play record. Dancing while pottering in the kitchen is my favourite point. My recent favourites are Marisa Monte’s cover of Pale Blue Eyes, Ismael Lo’s Jammu Africa, Sam and the Womp Bom Bom and the 4tet remix of Beth Orton’s Carmella.

Soppy but true, Russell my husband. Chilled and fascinating all at once.

Barrafina, Frith street.  I previously know my order. Followed by breakfast by the pool at the La Colombe D’Or,  St Paul De Vence.
