The 3 Cusps Chalet (charmingly renovated by Tiago do Vale Architects) is a clear illustration of the Brazilian influence over Portuguese architecture throughout the 19th century. Siting at the heart of the 2 the Roman and medieval walls of Braga, a stone’s throw away from Braga’s Cathedral (a single of the most historically significant of the Iberian Peninsula) this is a particularly sunny building with 2 fronts, one facing the street at West and yet another a single, dealing with a delightful, competent block interior plaza at East, enjoying organic light all day extended.
Confronted by the 2 its degrading state and degree of adulteration, and by the curiosity of its story and typology, the design and style staff took as their mission the recovery of the developing’s identity, which had been lost in 120 years of tiny unqualified interventions. The intention was to clarify the building’s spaces and functions whilst simultaneously producing it match for right now’s way of living.
Fitting with the method of maximizing light and the explicitness of the spaces, the material and finish selections used in this venture have been intentionally limited. White shade was utilized for the walls, ceilings and carpentry due to its spacial characteristics and lightness. Wood in its normal color is employed for the hardwood floors and clothing room due to its warmth and comfort. Portuguese white Estremoz marble, which covers the ground floor, countertops and on the bathrooms and laundry walls and floors, was chosen for its texture, reflectivity and color.
