The task LACESCAPE TABLE by Miro Roman & Luka Vlahović interweaves the threads of engineering and tradition. It was devised by Croatian girls lace-makers, and totally digitally designed and fabricated. LACESCAPE TABLE is an idea and a idea which incorporates an total population of tables. It is exactly due of the abundance of numerous expressions of lace-producing that the designers do not limit themselves to creating a single table that will display the single most beautiful Croatian lace: “Rather, we direct our target on a series of objects that will celebrate the richness and diversity of Croatian lace-creating: the beautiful and the mesmerizing patterns, the imperfect and the flawless ones“, explained the developers.
The designer no longer manipulates the “object” itself, but designs and directs the principles, systems and narratives that will create, make and market that object. The laser reduce surface and the digitally bent plate develop the LACESCAPE TABLE which examines how the intangible cultural heritage leaves its mark on the potential of digital style:” We want to play with the postmodern legacy of quoting and collaging by using algorithmic style. We quote, rummage and play with the aspects of cultural heritage. We take them to infinity. Rather of nature, culture gets to be a haven for our algorithms. ” [Data supplied by way of e-mail by Roman Vlahovic Photography: Maja Bosnić, Ivan Dorotić / Lauba ]
