From the Architects:
Situated higher on the shores of Little Bay, the Quarterdeck Residence is element of an award winning subdivision of land in Sydney’s Eastern Suburbs. The grounds on which the property is created belonged to a coastal hospital that was later the place of the historical installation ar2rk Wrapped Coast – 1 Million Square Feet by Cristo and Jeanne-Claude. The set up involved the wrapping of the close by rock escarpment in 1968.
As 1 of 4 homes created in the subdivision by Luigi Rosselli Architects, each a single is quite distinct from the up coming to reflect the clientele short and needs, as effectively as the different web sites. The trapezoidal internet site on which this residence sits allowed for a broad ground floor living room facing the ocean see, and upstairs a narrow and lengthy cantilevered structure projecting the master bedroom and its balcony out in the direction of the sea. The 2 volumes have been linked vertically at the pivot by a stairwell. The stairwell is expressed in the street frontage as a sandstone bastion complete with embrasures.
The residing area windows slide away to give an unobstructed opening onto a timber deck that is surrounded by a shallow water filled moat, portion of which is a spa. The master bedroom can also open completely on the pulpit like balcony, hovering above the golfers and seashore goers, and in near symbiosis with the ocean.
