Personal Residence by Marcel Wanders:
“If you think skin is surface and surface is superficial, your brains have proved that your eyes don’t perform.
With 102 m2 (one,098 ft2) of surface and a backyard of 100 m2 (1,076 ft2), Personal Residence, Amsterdam strangely symbolizes the typical home area for the Netherlands. With these specs, the room had to be quite rationally organized. But rational does not quit architecture from speaking. The interior of Personal Residence, Amsterdam abounds with powerful particulars which offer monumentality.
The semi – circular wall in the primary region has been enhanced and the curved wall acquired bulged to give an iconic presence to the space. The boundary in between within and outdoors, and amongst architecture and nature are blurred. The backyard and the house had to dwell together in a lovely peaceful way. Personal Residence was finished in 2008.”
