Personal Home Empordà by Núria Selva Villaronga:
“A modest village, in the Baix Empordà spot, formed by a handful of outdated homes folded along a “U” shaped street the middle of which the square that opens up the view to the church hangs from, and 2 or 3 plots, outdated orchards nevertheless to be build, is the setting for this home´s venture.
The threads of the project are the fitting of the developing in this friendly, tiny and peaceful environment and the improvement of a residential program not entirely traditional, defined by the property.
The house occupies a plot of irregular form which forms an esplanade lifted from the street´s gradient. The compacted volume, 4 winds and gabled roof, contains the fundamental features of a rural residence. The exterior wall coverings of all-natural stone windowed the traditional way, the tile roof with eaves of ceramic tile, the arched spaces vaulted with bricks and the openings resolved with dark woodcraft and Venetian booklet blinds, are the expressive factors that blend the house with the surroundings and naturally integrate it.
Regardless of the form of the plot, the building´s plant has an orthogonal matrix defined by 2 displaced rectangles that overlap. From one particular of these rectangles drifts the enclosed volume gabled roof the other marks the arcades on the ground floor and initial floor terraces, which means, open spaces that serve the inside system.
The access, both pedestrian and vehicular, is carried out by the north side of the plot. The ground floor, in fact, unfolds into 2 ranges. The lower level floor that occupies the strip following to the street is accessed from the it with a reasonable slope, even though the back strip southwards´ oriented, is leveled with the gradient and connects to the backyard.
The scale occupies a central place in the plant. Saves the gap between the areas of the ground floor and continues until finally the very first floor and the undercovered not inhabitable area.
The ground floor´s unfolding into 2 ranges has correspondence with its employs: parking in the side of the street, residing-area, workplace and guests´ bedroom, plus some services rooms, in the substantial slope overlooking the backyard. The floor´s inhabitable segment is surrounded on the outdoors by a porched space covered with brick vaults, which extends it to the garden dealing with south.
The first floor houses the far more private program with a residing area- dining space and an open kitchen, also facing a porch excavated from the major volume and terraces, in addition to 3 double bedrooms, every with its own bathroom.
An outdoors staircase connected to the porched volume connects the outdoor spaces and garden. The method for landscaping the outdoors has been the paving around the home following the straight suggestions marked by it, leaving jagged edges free to plant and lengthen the paved space all around the home with pieces of rectangular plant, one paved with gravel containing a pergola with roses, yet another woodpaved, next to a hydromassage mini- pool. At the end of the garden, there are 2 rows of fruit trees and a little orchard.”Initial Degree
