Eye-catching layout of the La Florida residence situated in Madrid, Spain created by Otto Medem de la Torriente studio. There’;s a lot more following the leap:

From the Architects:

The Florida’s housing is a single of the most representative undertaking in our office. At the project’s beginnings we saw that one particular of the most essential determinant factor, it was its own situation. The good deal was really close to the A6 highway, a very essential street in Madrid, so the consistent noise it was really uncomfortable in spite of the place: a quiet location with tons of vegetation. So the orientation was a standard issue from the initial layout. With all these tips and yet another aesthetic and functional parts, that continued with our office philosophy, it emerged the thought: The Protective Arm. We wanted the house to be like arms that shield its end users from the exterior noise and from the cold north. That idea’s materialization was 2 pieces, “L” positioned, that give back to the highway and that receives the light and the sun warmth from the southeast. The house’s undertaking, the plants and the building’s shape had steady alterations to obtain these days one particular. It had to adjust to the customer’s requirements. The rooms had been distributed in 3 amounts. The ground floor and the upper floor have been oriented to the backyard, but the basement was semi-buried, so we made 3 courtyards to get the light in this side of the residence. The last outcome was really satisfying, each for the client and our workplace.
