East Bay Property by MacCracken Architects:

“This task is in essence a new residence developed on the foundation of an current U shaped California ranch type house. The building layout, space sizes, window placement and eave lines all contributed to a feeling that the magnificent views of the surrounding hills had been not exploited.

The new layout presents spacious volumes with tall wood windows and doors enabling visual entry to horizon, sky and hillsides in the foreground and distance. It consists of 5 new tall articulated wood boxes, which are an expression of crucial interior spaces inside of the building. They are connected by slightly lower roof and ceiling sections with trellis an walls of integral shade plaster.”
