73rd St Penthouse by Turett Collaborative Architects:
“Designed for a single owner, this 2,400 square foot triplex apartment in a new condominium development on East 73rd Street is complete of air and light. Functioning closely with the developing architects, TCA has made a soaring, dramatic area with double-height entry foyer and a massive living room with a custom fire trough that runs along the length of the area. A distinctive function of the condominium is the 2-story Vals quartzite stone wall that runs along the west side of the apartment, with stones that have been handpicked by the proprietor and architect from a remote Swiss quarry. Cantilevered constructed-in shelves generate a table and evening stand, even though niches in the stone wall are reserved for the client’s numerous toiletries.
Other striking attributes are the stairs, created of black oxidized steel, which tie the 3 ranges of the residence together. Near the top, the methods lead to a “bridge” suspended above 3 stories, supplying a dramatic view of the room. A clear glass box containing a complete bathroom resides in between the master bedroom and the research on the 2nd degree when privacy is necessary, an inner layer of the glass can be activated to turn the walls opaque. On the third degree, a lounge appears out onto an idyllic landscaped roof terrace and sun-deck the greatest escape from the city.”
