Residence in Vitznau by Lischer Partner Architekten Planer:

“The clients’ wish was to live in a timber property. However, the tough geology, the outstanding hillside place and the current environment prompted us to design a sound construction in which the difficult shell of the concrete facade encases and protects the soft core of the timber property. The prefabricated timber frame cassettes had been erected, sealed and insulated on web site and clad with single skin concrete. The timber development stands as ‘a home in a house’. In combination with the concrete shell, it was attainable to optimise its load bearing dimensions as it does not have to resist any shear forces.

The clear cubature anchors the house to the hillside. A bridge prospects to an open courtyard with a garage and the entrance to the house. The household rooms, this kind of as the dining and residing rooms, are situated on the top floor. The bedrooms on the 2 reduce floors are accessed by 2 opposing staircases. This feature generates a corridor via the structure which leads to various rooms that vary in orientation and have distinct outlooks.

The air-blown concrete facade was executed in Wesen gravel that adopts the reddish colour and graininess of the prominent rock encounter behind the property. The entire wooden casing (floors, walls, ceiling) is executed in larch wood block panels. The timber can also be witnessed from outside by way of the openings and recesses. Fixed glazing framed in larch emphasises the extraordinary views of the Lake Lucerne landscape.

Dividing factors and island units, also in larch, have been employed to zone out the principal rooms. A structure with a cloakroom and the rear side of the kitchen divides the area adjacent to the entrance. The residing room is complemented by an element housing the fireplace and a media cabinet. Each and every bedroom is made up of an en-suite unit with built-in garments cupboard. Due to this, the holiday residence assumes the typology of a hotel space – creating a kind of personal holiday hotel.”
