This classy property, situated in Ranzo, Sant’Abbondio, Switzerland, was designed by Wespi de Meuron.

The property sits perched on a rocky hill overlooking Lake Maggiore.

Residence in Ranzo by Wespi de Meuron:

“The project works with references to the historical architectural culture of the area and interprets them anew.

The classic normal grey plaster of the façade linked with the easy cube of the modern day residence detracts itself from a exact temporal assignment.

This residence is closely linked to the historical paths from the lake to the village. The terrace with a mountainside courtyard wall, a prolonged bench and all-natural stone paving has Mediterranean character. The pergola spot on the outdated barn is right linked with a steep staircase to the property and forms a counterpoint to the new building.”
