Envisioned by interior designer and blogger Athena Calderone of Rawlins Calderone Layout for herself and family, the Duplex Penthouse in New York is an eclectic, enticing and very intriguing present day dream house.
Situated in the sought-right after neighborhood of DUMBO, Brooklyn, this chic dwelling is a melting pot of edginess, glamour and plain excellent taste. Interiors characteristic mid-century, contemporary and contemporary furnishings in metal, wood, glass and wealthy textiles. The double-height windows of the residing regions supply floods of natural light paired with stunning views of the East River. The center hall, replete with a mod glass lighting pendant, gives exposed concrete walls adjacent to a transparent staircase. What a way to operate a narrow room!
A definite stand-out, however, is the synthesis of styles–exotic pieces like the zebra rug and African objets d’art collected from travels are magnificently mixed with a tufted posh velvet sofa and minimalist globe chandeliers. It just performs so deliciously and leaves you wanting a lot more.
And let’s talk about the blue. Firstly, a favourite shade of mine, this great and soothing hue is draped throughout this dreamy duplex–on walls, ar2rk, designer pieces and cozy throws. Paired with the tonal greys and warm natural woods, the setting becomes most inviting and rather magical.
The kitchen is a vision of subdued opulence. The smooth cabinetry is bathed in pale grey, nevertheless trimmed in luxe gold. The 2 oversize pendants presiding above the white marble island also reflect this gorgeous juxtaposition of colour and materials, even though the molded wood counter stools add a dose of earthy appeal to this contemporary culinary space.
The couple’s younger son is fortunate to have such a spirited, ultra-hip area. With graffiti-esque walls, vertically-stacked skateboards on show and splashes of neon here and there, this area is downright fabulous. The reality that his mom allowed him some imaginative license right here is perhaps the greatest component.
The master suite is a dream. White bedding piled with plush pillows is set towards the present day white and wood side tables and dresser creating a dynamic visual. It is the blue ar2rk over the bed, although, that is gorgeous and truly mesmerizes with motion the far more you look at it. The compact but neatly organized stroll-in closet is each woman’s dream with constructed-in shoe compartments, jewelry fixtures and double rows of wardrobe area.
The Duplex Penthouse is a present day urban dream property filled with fashion, balance and a certain magnetism portraying timeless style.
