A marvelous composition of mid-century modern design and refined traditional architecture, the 19th-century Paris Apartment belonging to Luis Laplace, principal of the nicely-respected company Laplace & Co., just wows.
A visually-gorgeous showcase, these interiors are great, clean-lined and brimming with handsome designer pieces expertly curated for the space. The living area is resplendent with layer upon layer of ornate decorative mouldings which climb the pristine white walls. Door panels are just as exquisite, white-on-white reliefs which command both respect and consideration. Authentic herringbone wood floors are a light contrast, contributing to the vintage vibe of this Area Saint Georges flat.
Furnishings are drawn towards the room’s core, with a moss-hued upholstered sofa, duet of plush milk-white fabric occasional chairs and a couple of glass-topped tables scattered about for balance. Sheer draperies positioned on the massive sets of windows cast a soft glow across this primary living location, which receives a focal level of a grand stone fireplace replete with carved gold-leaf mirror.
So unexpected however masterfully fitting is the rectangular glass dining table with fantastic canary yellow school-chair design seating, presented in front of yet another classic fireplace–I’m certain there are numerous in this historic property. A basic cylindrical glass vase displays a minimalistic arrangement of green aloe, although ar2rk casually leans against the mantel’s elaborate gold-framed mirror–delectable contrast! The architect and designer decided to forego the mundane placement of a chandelier in excess of the table, and instead installed a wall sconce bearing a lengthy trim rod and round globe-encased bulb.
A bedroom is modest and drenched in a retro palette of mustard and brown with a pair of dark wood side tables with slim tapered legs. The house workplace is a masculine room regardless of the fancy mouldings, with a impressive coffered ceiling holding center stage. A polished chrome arc floor lamp gracefully lunges more than the desk location, another mid-century present day addition which splendidly rounds out this perform area.
Luis Laplace’s Paris Apartment is a magnificent contemporary dream house, evoking chic design which rather closely nails perfection.(via)
