Styling a Bookcase

I was so relieved back in October when our Ikea Liatrop bookcase was last but not least assembled and painted. It was a time consuming work painting all the shelves and doors one coat of primer and 2 coats of semi-gloss paint. The shade, river reflections is a lovely taupe/gray, but soon after I finished painting the complete thing I realized it was just as well bland next to the walls! :( Right here is a prior to…

So, now that Chanukah is behind us I picked up a quart of Chelsea Gray and acquired to perform. As you can see under the new color is quite a bit darker.

It adds richness to the piece and seems to be far better against the burlap-covered backs and the walls which are painted Coastal Fog…

Now that the painting is accomplished the fun commences…styling the shelves. Virtually all of our books are on a bookshelf in the den so these shelves hold the T.V. and are the ideal spot to show decorative objects. (Otherwise known as tchotchkes!)

1. Freshly painted, ready for add-ons.
2. It really is usually greatest to begin filling in with the greatest objects. I attempted to stagger them so your eye travels around the unit.
3. Keep adding, keeping in mind you want to differ the shapes and sizes.
4. Finally, I extra a bit of shade with the moss, pottery, and touches of gold.

Carried out (for now.) It really is always evolving!

I still have more to do in the living room but at least I can cross this off my record!
